SXSW Gaming will take over the Austin Convention Center next year with more than 50,000 gaming fans and professionals from Thursday, March 15 through Saturday, March 17.
With such a large audience, and key position at the heart of the SXSW Conference & Festivals, the Gaming festival will present a variety of invaluable opportunities for gaming professionals to be a part of for the 2018 event.
Entering its fifth year, the SXSW Gaming Awards have recognized hundreds of games for their excellence across dozens of prestigious categories, which has included past Video Game of the Year winners such as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and The Last of Us.
With categories covering verticals of the gaming industry such as mobile gaming, VR gaming, esports, tabletop, and more, there’s always a category to enter your game project for.
All 24 Gaming Awards categories will be open for entry from Tuesday, September 12 through Friday, December 8.
Gamer’s Voice Awards
Dedicated solely to indie games and the teams behind them, the Gamer’s Voice Awards honor the best in indie gaming found throughout the world. These unique awards have become a staple of the Gaming Awards ceremony, with prior winners including Owlboy, ARENA GODS, Gang Beasts, and SUPERHOT. Featuring four distinctive categories for SXSW Gaming 2018, covering video games, VR games, mobile games, and tabletop games, the Gamer’s Voice Awards are set to have a greater impact than ever before.
The Gamer’s Voice Awards share the same entry period as the other 20 primary Gaming Awards categories, which will run from Tuesday, September 12 through Friday, December 8.
SXSW has served as a discovery platform for some of the world’s most recognizable brands and startups for decades, with previous successes including companies such as Twitter, Foursquare, and Airbnb. This same sense of discovery for what’s coming next is also exhibited in the official SXSW Gaming Pitch Competition. With 16 world-class contestants in its inaugural year, the 2018 Pitch Competition will focus on an even larger production with more groundbreaking projects that are sure to shake the gaming industry.

With an inaugural showcase featuring 10 outstanding student projects from multiple countries and universities, the 2018 Student Showcase will again honor the craft and passion displayed in games made by students.
