This genre of music, which has taken audiences across the world by storm, is making its way to the heart of SXSW Gaming to be featured in one showcase of incredible talent that you won’t want to miss. Mega Ran

Mega Ran Arguably the world’s foremost link between hip-hop and video game culture, Mega Ran combines the classic nostalgic bleeps and bloops of retro gaming with hard-hitting, topical rhymes and clever wordplay. The former teacher’s music has landed TV, movie and game placements along with multiple world tours, and he is the proud holder of a Guinness World Record for his prolificacy and hustle.

SAMMUS SAMMUS (Enongo Lumumba-Kasongo) is a Philadelphia-based rap artist, producer, and PhD student in the Department of Science & Technology Studies at Cornell University. Known as much for her rousing stage presence as she is for her prowess as a beatmaker and lyricist, Sammus has spent the past several years cultivating a strong following of activists, hip hop heads, punks, and self-identified nerds and geeks, among others. As noted by the Los Angeles Times, Sammus “has a gift for getting a message across.”

Rockit Gaming Rockit Gaming is one of YouTube’s biggest rising Nerdcore artists, dedicated in creating commercial grade content for developers, publishers, and of course – fans. Utilizing YouTube as a main platform for connecting with their audience, they produce two full songs and lyrical typography video every week. With themed lyrics pertaining to storylines, characters, and lore, they blur the line of reality for their listeners – engaging both gamers and non-gamers alike. With over 200 songs in their ever growing catalog, it truly is something you have to see to believe.

NerdOut! Taking cues from modern rock, rap, and comedy and infusing it with references to all things nerd culture, NerdOut made its debut on YouTube in 2015. With its members spanning two continents, by the time Jack, Nem, and Ben met in person for the first time nine months later, the group had already hit nine-figure view totals. As YouTube, and with it the gaming community, continues to rise in the digital age, NerdOut proves to be at the front line, churning out releases for a hungry fanbase.
