Announcing the Entertainment Acts for the 2019 SXSW Gaming Awards

SXSW Gaming Awards Entertainment Acts

With past acts such as Starbomb, The Gregory Brothers, and Rockit Gaming, the SXSW Gaming Awards has brought in content creators who truly add value to the viewing experience for our festival attendees and online spectators. This year will be no different as we bring in a lineup of fan favorites and industry veterans for the 2019 Gaming Awards Ceremony.

This year, the critically-acclaimed duo Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett of Supergiant Games will be providing our halftime entertainment.

Korb is the award-winning composer and musician behind the hit scores for each of Supergiant Games’ titles. Darren’s original scores have received dozens of industry accolades, nominations, and awards, including the VGA Award for Best Original Score and the SXSW Gaming Award for Excellence in Musical Score.

Barrett is a vocalist for Supergiant Games, whose distinct voice can be heard as Zia in Bastion, Red in Transistor, and Celeste in Pyre, as well as the latest game, Hades. Ashley’s vocals were featured in the Video Game Song of the Year “Build that Wall” from Bastion. Since then, Ashley and Darren have performed on stage together at many gaming events such as PAX and MAGWest.

Founded in 2006, Media Molecule is constantly pushing the boundaries between the player and the creator. Now in their 13th year, the studio behind the critically-acclaimed series LittleBigPlanet are setting their sights even higher with their ambitious new title Dreams. A spiritual successor to LittleBigPlanet, Dreams offers deeper and more advanced creation tools, giving players the power to create with the support of a global community. Once the doors open, developers from the team will work alongside the crowd to create something brand new in Dreams, with a twist that will be revealed during the ceremony.

During our ceremony, Award-winning film, TV and video game composer Inon Zur will premiere the music video for his newest track “Into the Storm” – his Sony Music Masterworks debut and the lead track from his forthcoming album of video game-inspired works.

Have you ever wondered which of your favorite characters would win in a fight? Death Battle is a Rooster Teeth web series that answers that very question, featuring hundreds of icons across pop culture. Hosts Wiz and Boomstick analyze weapons, armor, and skills to determine once and for all who would win in a battle to the death. Multiplayer is BuzzFeed’s newest brand, a gaming channel with upbeat videos, cosplay, and more. Whether you grind in RPG’s daily or play Mario Kart at house parties on the weekend, these videos are for you. Multiplayer is behind one of YouTube’s most-viewed videos of 2018: Professional Dancers Try The Fortnite Dance Challenge.
